Rob and Christie
Hello! We are Rob and Christie. Thank you for taking the time to get to know us a bit!
Our life adventure started in 2010 at a mutual friend’s birthday party. We sat across from each other as complete strangers, but over the course of the night really hit it off. As time passed, we began to date. During that time, we found that we shared many similar hobbies and desires including day trips, trucks, camping, and volunteering. Rob proposed after a year of dating and we were married 8 months later. We have been happily married for 8 years now and are always finding new adventures.
We were born and raised in the Bay Area, CA but 3 years ago, we made the decision to move to Southern Oregon where we have been able to slow our life down and where we hope to be able to provide a better quality of life for our future family. We bought a beautiful four-bedroom home, which provides plenty of room for family and friends to stay. Our current housemates are our two beautiful, goofy coonhounds, named Bo and Ruger (Roogie), and our two cats Nermal and Chloe.
Rob is an all things “fix it” guy who works as a system administrator for a large managed services provider. He loves to tinker on cars, computers, electronics, and household projects. He has a deep love for airplanes, cars, and all things electronics. He’s passionate about serving in his community and volunteers his time as often as he can. His favorite places to be are his garage, computer room, or going out on fun weekend adventures to locations far and near, especially if it’s near the Oregon coast. Christie would describe his personality as warm, patient, and very curious about anything he encounters.
Christie is a reading specialist and the coordinator for gifted students at her school. She is currently working on a Masters in Special Education. She has been working with children since she was a teenager. Her favorite kids to work with are at-risk youth because, despite the traumas that they have faced, she loves to help them tap into their potential and move forward in life regardless of the road they walked in their past. Christie enjoys having winter, spring, and summer breaks off. When she is not working with children, she loves to express herself through art of all mediums including painting, wood burning, sewing, or vegetable gardening. She loves taking art classes and trying new activities. Rob would describe Christie as caring, consistent, loving, and dedicated to her friends and family.
Family is very important to us and we are close with our extended families. We often travel back to California to visit and they travel north to visit us as well! Both sides of our family are excited about our decision to have an open adoption and have offered us support throughout this journey and beyond! We believe that an open adoption is an important aspect to a child’s development. Knowing where he or she came from and their biological family helps them form as individuals and can help the child understand his or her unique personality. We want our child to know that he or she is loved by us and their birth family. We are looking forward to blending our family with yours throughout the child’s life. We thank you for considering us!
