Hi, we’re Jay and Jenny.

Jenny grew up in Missouri, and Jay is from Montana. We met in college in 1993 in Jenny’s hometown and became good friends, connecting over our shared love of theater and baseball. After college, we both moved to different parts of the country in our pursuit of acting and theater. Jenny lived in Virginia, Montana, and then Seattle, and Jay went to Ohio, New York, and Los Angeles, but we always made it a priority to stay in touch. In 2004, we finally realized that we might be “meant to be” and Jay joined Jenny in Seattle. Our friends were not at all surprised when we “officially” began dating, got engaged later that same year, and were married in August 2005.

After getting married, Jay settled into a “regular” job in customer service in the car industry, where his friendly nature and desire to help others has enabled him to find success and satisfaction in his work. Jenny is a theater artist who teaches, directs, and acts, having found her niche in the vibrant Seattle theater community. As a family, we enjoy time outside the home traveling, exploring museums, finding and eating great food, and attending live theater, concerts, and sporting events. While at home, we like to read and listen to books, watch movies, play board games, and do jigsaw puzzles. We LOVE to spend time together, whether we’re watching Turner Classic Movies, eating dinner at a 3-Star Michelin restaurant before a Broadway show, or camping at Cama Beach on Camano Island. We love to experience and learn new things together!

After many years in Seattle, we now live in a suburb north of the city. We live on a quiet street, just down the road from a playground and ball field, and have a large fenced-in backyard that we have turned into our oasis. We like to spend time outside watching and feeding birds and squirrels who share our yard, as well as enjoying critters and nature on walks in our neighborhood and along the Puget Sound waterfront. We are active members of a Presbyterian church in our neighborhood, and our Christian faith is a guiding force in our lives and marriage. We love to spend time with our family and friends and host holiday gatherings, potlucks, BBQs, and game nights throughout the year. As we look ahead to growing our family through open adoption, we’re excited to share meals, milestones, and friendship with our child’s birth family.

We have always wanted to be parents, and we pray for God’s will and trust Him to support us on our journey. We are excited to embrace the adventures of parenting together and plan to raise our child in a home full of laughter, faith, honesty, and kindness. We want an open adoption because we believe it supports a child’s natural curiosity about their origin story and connects them to all parts of who they are. We look forward to welcoming our child’s birth family into our family.

Blessings,

Jay and Jenny
