David and Clint
We hope this letter finds you well. We are David, Clint and Kean and we are excited to expand our family through Open Adoption and Family Services. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about us!
We first met in 2005 on a random night where we played a game of scrabble with a mutual friend. Clint, at the time, was dating someone else but David will always remember the sweater he was wearing. We officially started dating in June of 2006. We knew each other almost intrinsically from that point. On our first Valentine’s Day, Clint put in a movie (Love Actually) and David knowing that this was a test, prepared to watch an onslaught of a romantic comedy, which he really dislikes. When the video started to play, however, it turned out to be the movie, Hostel (David loves horror movies). In that moment, David knew that Clint was for him forever.
For the first part of our relationship, Clint supported David while he finished his bachelor’s degree. We then embarked on a 3-year long-distance relationship when David moved across the country to Connecticut for graduate school. While this time period was difficult, we managed through consistent communication either via phone or Skype. Sometimes it was talking about our day or simply watching a movie together over the Internet. In 2011, we tied the knot in a small ceremony in front of family and friends in New England.
From that point, we lived mostly apart for the next three years while Clint worked in another state and David moved to Oregon to build a career. Finally, in 2013 we were back together and began planting our roots in the Portland metro area. We now have a modest home with two cats, Isis and Amos.
In 2017, we adopted our son Kean (Keandre) when he was 16 months old. He has blossomed into a kind, generous, and energy filled 3-year-old who loves dinosaurs, trucks, soccer, reading and can’t get enough of playing outdoors. He is a great teacher to his baby cousin and is very excited at the possibility of being an older brother.
Clint works in administration with a local nonprofit health center where he develops and implements improvement processes to make the agency run more efficiently. David, as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, works with individuals experiencing homelessness, mental illness and substance dependence.
Clint was born and raised in a very small town in the high desert of northern Nevada. He spent his youth in a Catholic private school and as an altar boy. He moved to Boise to attend college. As an adult, Clint is obsessed with exercise 7 days a week, video games, the latest technology, cats, Star Wars and Harry Potter.
David was born in Salt Lake City and raised in Boise. He spent his youth in public school and stayed in town to get his bachelor’s degree. As an adult, he enjoys spending time visiting friends and family, doing projects around the house, watching scary movies, reading books and doing anything related to Batman.
Together we enjoy time as a family whether it is reading, dinner around the table, spending an afternoon at the park or going on a weekend trip to visit our families, including Kean’s birth Mom and brother. We love creating new traditions with our son during holidays and as he grows. We also enjoy exercising, biking, running or skiing.
We want to honor your decision, whatever that may be. If our letter peaks your interest, we would really love to hear from you.
