Dear Expectant Parent(s),

Hello, we’re Cody and Julie! Thank you for taking the time to learn about us. We look forward to getting to know you too!

We’re both from Oregon and fate brought us together at a networking event where we felt an instant connection (love-at-first-sight is real!) We spent the next 5 years rebuilding our first home and adopting our first “fur baby” – a spunky mini dachshund named Olive. We’ve been a happy trio ever since, but the one thing we know in our hearts that would complete our family, is a child to love.

We spend our free time being fairly active. Cody is a fitness and nature-lover who enjoys hiking, backpacking, and tending to our backyard Japanese water garden. Julie loves unwinding with yoga and ballet. Together, we love camping in our tent trailer, taking Olive to the many parks by our house, and spending time with our family, friends and neighbors. We also love being at home working on projects, watching the Blazers (Cody’s a super fan), trying out new recipes (authentic Mexican for the win!), and barbequing and swimming in the backyard during the warmer months. We can’t wait to share our loving community, adventures, and passions with our future child and his/her birth family.

Cody is a generous and hard-working person you can always count on. He can solve any problem, big or small, and gets a lot of joy from helping others. He owns a bilingual insurance agency in Tigard, Oregon, working primarily with the Hispanic community and maintains close relationships with many of his clients.

Julie is nurturing, funny and warm and is the planner of the family. She loves one-on-one, heartfelt conversations and is very easy to get to know. She’s a Project Manager for a Portland advertising agency and loves surrounding herself with creative thinkers who make her laugh daily. We both feel so fortunate to have careers we enjoy with a good work/life balance, and plan to each spend an extra day of the week at home once a baby comes.

Like many couples, starting a family hasn’t been easy for us. But, after learning about open adoption, we quickly discovered that it feels like the perfect fit. And while we can’t imagine what it might feel like to consider placing your child for adoption, we want you to know that we don’t take that decision lightly and we fully support you in whatever you choose. We believe a family can take a million beautiful forms and that building an open and honest bond with our child’s birth family is the most natural, life-giving gift for everyone. We also value mutual love and respect and believe these things have the power to turn strangers into friends and acquaintances into family. We are so excited and ready for what the future holds!

We wish you and your child peace and love on this journey of the heart.

Sincerely,

Cody and Julie (and Olive too!)
