Hello, I’m Becca. Thanks for giving me a chance to introduce myself.
I love children, and kids have always been a big part of my life. As a pediatrician, I work to keep kids and their families healthy and happy. It’s been my dream to be a mother for a long time, and I feel that open adoption is a wonderful path to creating a family. I will be a single mom, but that doesn’t mean I’ll be raising a child alone. I can count on my network of family and close friends, many of whom have children, to help me every step of the way. And I will always welcome my child’s birth family into our lives.
Open adoption reflects my values – my fundamental belief is that children do best when they are surrounded by love, and having more people who support them and are interested in their life is a gift. I want my child to grow up cherishing the story of their adoption, knowing from the beginning that they are part of an extended family.
I grew up in Boston, Massachusetts, and moved to Seattle in 2016 because I’ve always wanted to live here. It has been a great decision! I work part time as a pediatrician at a clinic downtown, with a flexible schedule that means lots of time to devote to raising a family. I own a house in a family-friendly neighborhood near the beach, with parks and playmates within walking distance. There is a room all ready for a new baby.
I share my home with my roommate Tove, one of my best friends for many years, and Sasha, my very zen 11-year old cat. My sister, brother-in-law, and little niece live just 5 blocks away. I love having family close by and getting to see my niece CC discover new things every week. I also get back to Boston regularly to see family and friends, and have lots of visitors to Seattle. Everyone in the family shares my excitement about adopting. My sister is so thrilled to be an aunt and for her daughter to grow up with a cousin right down the street, and my parents are already considering a move out west.
In my free time, I like to read, cook, garden, and spend time with friends – my home is always open to visitors, and I am a firm believer in the more the merrier. Though I am very social, I also like my quiet time at home. In the winter I’m often doing puzzles with a cup of tea, and summers I’m reading a sci-fi novel on the back deck (fully embracing my nerdy side here). I also love getting outside to explore the beaches and mountains of the Pacific Northwest.
I have so much to be grateful for in life. I know I’m lucky to have had a happy childhood and supportive family, and I will do my best to provide my child with the same – a life full of unconditional love, respect, and the secure knowledge of a welcoming home.
My heart is open and ready to welcome a child and their birth family. I hope that we can connect and create a new family together.
With love, Becca
