Willo and Bob
Hello!
We are excited to be part of an open adoption and start our family. Choosing the best future you can for your baby and yourself is a brave and admirable thing and we wish you the best. We can do our part by telling you a bit about us.
We have been married for eight years and we have fallen into a rhythm where things just work. Getting along well is important since we spend a lot of time together. Bob works from home building websites and Willo takes care of the house, her organic vegetable garden and does a little graphic design now and then. There are three cats in our family already. They don't get along quite as well as we do but they shamelessly use their cuteness to make up for it. We live in a quiet neighborhood in a Pacific Northwest city. We love our house that we remodeled together, and we like how our neighborhood is a little out of the way but still close to everything.
For fun we usually like to get outside. We play tennis very enthusiastically (though not very well – at least not yet). It isn't pretty but it's great exercise and keeps us laughing at the same time. We are a little better at ping-pong, which at our house is outside. We enjoy taking walks and talking along the way. If we are out somewhere new or interesting we usually take photos while we walk. Sometimes we ride our bikes over to the bookstore or coffee shop where we rest or refuel. We also started sailing a few years back. Willo is still working on her sea legs but we enjoy getting out on the water even if she gets a little queasy.
Outside is great but we can be homebodies too. We like to watch a little TV, tennis or movies in "the nook" which is our cozy hang-out area. Bob works on his photography and Willo cooks up new and interesting dinners, often using food from the garden. We both like to read. Bob reads books about adventure, science fiction and how the world works. Willo reads novels, books about making things, and a lot of stuff about changing our lifestyle and culture so we can stop destroying the planet.
We like to soak up a variety of culture, from art museums to roller derby. Going out to eat great food and trying new restaurants is our favorite night out. Every year we take a couple of weeklong trips to a nearby island to relax. Also we try to head somewhere warm and sunny to snorkel every few years.
Our family circle is small and tightly knit. Some of our "family" are really friends that we have had for years and years. When our group gets together we get along really well and everyone feels comfortable being themselves. Anyone new is absorbed immediately and becomes part of the crew. We love to laugh and eat and hang out, talking or playing games. Willo’s mom is especially close and plans to move nearby to help out with our new addition.
We believe in raising children to care deeply about people and the world around them. We also think feeling completely loved is a great foundation for having a happy life and feeling confident. As parents in an open adoption our child will know they were always loved, even before we met, because their birthparent’s thoughtful and caring choices will always be part of their story. Even better, we hope our child’s birthfamily will be a source of love and support throughout our child’s life.
