Susan and Sylvain
Dear Expectant Birthparents,
We are Susan, Sylvain and Xavier, a happy family thanks to the open adoption of Xavier in 2007. Xavier's birthparents, Molly and John, changed our lives and became part of our family, and now we are longing to grow our family again.
Sylvain came to the USA from France in 1993 after winning a competition where he juggled through his presentation of why he should be allowed to study here. After watching Sylvain juggle on campus, Susan's sister, Liz, came home to say, “I’ve met some new French student who is definitely your kind of guy.” We were married 3 years later in 1996 and have been happily married for 14 years.
Susan is a full-time homemaker, and Sylvain works from home as a software engineer with a flexible schedule. We spend a lot of time together as a family, having lunch at a nearby cafe or playing at a playground. Susan’s parents live nearby and often join us. We have lived in the Pacific Northwest for 9 years, in a friendly, residential neighborhood across the street from a great elementary school.
We have made many good friends in our diverse community, and we enjoy meeting people, taking care of animals, and pursuing our love of art. Sylvain volunteers at the local aquarium where he takes care of the sea otters and fur seals. He has studied pottery for years and enjoys taking workshops. Susan makes mosaic art pieces at a local glass studio and belongs to a book club. Xavier loves to play with musical instruments while listening to his favorite toddler bands. He enjoys learning about space and planets, and his favorite animals at the zoo are the chickens and the toucan birds. We look forward to watching Xavier and his sibling develop their abilities and passions in life while learning about art and nature and the world at large.
