Stacey and John
Hi,
Thank you for taking a moment to read our letter and learn a little more about us.
We are John and Stacey. We have known each other for over 20 years and have been married for 9. We are excited about becoming parents and looking forward to growing the relationships that come with open adoption.
We went to Kindergarten together then got reacquainted in the
8th grade. All through high school we were close friends and kept in touch while Stacey was in college and John was in the Air Force. Very seldom did we miss a Sunday night phone call. We are the best of friends and enjoy spending time together and with family; traveling, camping, and working on our house and yard. We also enjoy cooking, particularly grilling, and frequently share the fruits of our labor with friends and family. We love to travel and explore our surroundings. We aspire to visit as many National Parks as we can, and look forward to experiencing the beauty of Mother Nature through the eyes of a child.
Stacey has worked as a Physical Therapist Assistant for the past 12 years specializing in the geriatric population. Her work schedule is variable and allows for some flexibility. She is an avid reader and enjoys various craft projects including quilting, cross stitch, and paper quilling (the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create decorative designs). She is patient, optimistic, always willing to listen, and a friend you can trust.
John has been in the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning trade for over 16 years. He works for a very stable, family oriented business, with a steady 8 to 4:30 Monday through Friday schedule. He enjoys working on the house, yard, his car, or tinkering in the shop. He is very patient, always calm, eager to help anyone, and always looking at things from a humorous perspective.
We live in a rural area in the Northwest with the convenience of a larger city about 1 hour away. Our home is located on almost three acres in a green park like setting. There is a lake within walking distance and the ocean is only a couple of miles away. Our home is older with a great deal of character; we are methodically restoring ourselves to its original charm room by room. The most recent project has been one of the spare rooms in preparation for our first child.
Both our parents live a few hours away. One of our family traditions is Thanksgiving Day dinner; we host it in our home, with both our families. It is a good thing we have a large kitchen as everyone always wants to help with food preparation. Other traditions include annual camp outs and time spent at the beach clam digging and crabbing. We look forward to sharing our traditions and creating new ones.
We are very excited and looking forward to sharing our love and experiences with a child. We are convinced that open adoption will give our child the strong foundation to grow into a confident and independent person. It is important to us that we maintain a lifelong relationship with our child’s birthparent(s) and they will be welcome into our lives.
We understand that you have a lot difficult decisions to make and we are thankful for the time you are taking to consider us as the adoptive parents of your child.
