Sean and Stefan
Welcome to our letter! We are Stefan (right) and Sean (left). When the two of us first met, it was “kismet,” and we know when we finally meet you, it will be too. We hope that as we move forward together we will be able to build a strong friendship based on mutual respect and love. But, who are we and what are we about, you might ask? Here is some information to get you started!
We met each other initially through an online dating website in late summer of 2006. After talking on the phone and emailing for nearly a month, we “officially” met on a stairway leading to Stefan’s condominium. Stefan surprised Sean with a casual kiss, and then we were off on our first date. That simple kiss seemed the most natural thing in the world and a sign of greater things to come.
Since that time, we have planned and built a great life together, preparing a solid foundation for our future. Together we make a great team. We always include the other as part of the decision-making process, and always say “I love you” – and mean it - in the morning and the evening. We celebrated our wedding in October 2009 at a beachfront restaurant with 100 of our closest family & friends, and vowed to grow old together with humor and love. That event was an incredible moment that we will never forget.
We live in a Mid-Atlantic state in our 1962 Mid-Century California-style ranch home which we moved into in 2010. Our house has an entire wall of glass that looks out on the backyard and further into a small forest beyond. Deer, birds, squirrels, chipmunks, and foxes can often be seen in the early morning or during twilight. Our house sits on a cul-de-sac in a quiet wooded neighborhood with the elementary school 3 blocks away!
We use the word “family” very liberally in our home. This is why open adoption is a perfect fit for us! We love to host gatherings, and our new home has already hosted some incredible barbeques and holiday events with both family and friends! Thanksgiving brings 35-40 of Stefan’s family together. Hanukkah and Christmas are a special time for smaller gatherings and lots of decorations. Sean enjoys telling the story about how he knew Stefan was the one, when he saw Stefan holding our nephew surrounded by Sean’s family on their 1st Christmas together. The following year, Sean asked Stefan to marry him on Christmas Eve.
Stefan is a Senior Librarian for a large public library system. His job allows him to interact with children of all ages on a daily basis. Stefan especially loves hosting events where he entertains children by reading aloud with the help of puppets. Sean is a Corporate Director for an information technology company that supplies services to the federal government. His work involves facilitating efficiencies in how contracts manage their work.
Sean is always amazed by Stefan’s joy and caring. He is always thinking of others and a natural with kids. Stefan makes sure every kid visitor to our house gets a gift. And he loves making music CDs for our 2 nieces and 2 nephews to enjoy. Stefan is earnest, loving and a great listener. He is always humming, making up lyrics to old songs, and pretty much all smiles. His hobbies include genealogy, researching mid-century style architecture and furniture, and collecting classic TV memorabilia.
Stefan feels Sean is the result of a lifetime of searching for the right person. Sean has a fairly sarcastic sense of humor and enjoys the villain in movies, plays, and books a little too much. Classic films are his passion. He is also an avid baseball fan. Sean loves traveling especially hiking in national parks and visiting the islands of the world. He keeps his own “bucket list” of adventures to enjoy with Stefan. Sean’s past exploits include stalking moose with a camera, witnessing grizzly bears in the wild, and snorkeling with sea turtles and sharks!
