Melissa and Molly

Hello,

Thanks for taking the time to read our story.   We are Missy (left) and Molly (right) and we are super excited about becoming parents and expanding our family.  Between the two of us, we have 8 brothers, 6 sister-in-laws, 6 nephews, 6 nieces and amazing parents, who we love spending time with as much as possible.

We have always wanted to be parents, and since Molly was adopted, we have both known that adoption would be a part of how we created our own family. We feel open adoption is like a jigsaw puzzle, and all the pieces are necessary otherwise the puzzle is not complete. We know and believe children benefit from love, which is why open adoption is a great fit for us because our child will be surrounded by so much love, from so many people.

We met 17 years ago through work, and became close friends right away.    Missy was drawn to Molly’s sweet personality and warm smile, while Molly was drawn to Missy’s sense of adventure and amazing ability to draw people in and make them feel comfortable.  In 2003, our paths crossed at a World Cup game, and life finally felt like we were in the right place at the right time to begin our fun, loving relationship. Since then, we’ve spent time learning, laughing, traveling and growing as a couple. We challenge each other to be better people day in and day out. One of our rituals is to talk about our highs and lows at the end of the day, allowing us to connect and support one another.  We both love being active; taking walks around the neighborhood, bike riding, playing soccer, tennis and golf, skiing/snowboarding and going for hikes.  Bailey, our 3 ½ year-old chocolate lab, is always up for some good hikes, especially if water is involved. We can’t wait for the adventures of parenthood! We have so many great childhood memories, from camping to board game nights to hopping in the back of the station wagon for a road trip. We’re so excited to create new life experiences with our little one!

Our families are our foundation, and we hope to be that for our child.  Every holiday season we look forward to Missy’s family’s annual basketball game. Although we range in ages and in skills, it’s a morning filled with so much laughter, and we’re amazed that it always has a fun, competitive feel.  Our sister-in-law, who played college basketball, has no fear driving down the lane against her 17-year-old son. We also enjoy hosting events at our home throughout the year, such as Wii dance parties, watching and playing sports, sitting around our fire pit eating  s'mores, or having an outdoor movie night beneath the twinkling lights.  Music is also a big part of our lives, and we try to catch a few concerts whenever we can, especially if U2 or Jason Mraz are in town!  We look forward to taking our child to museums, farmers markets, and concerts at our neighborhood park (but we’ll be sure to pack the mini noise-reduction headsets!).

Missy says Molly is sweet, fun and is the type of person who has the ability to see the positive in people and situations. Molly works for her family’s business, which allows her to be close to family, friends, and all that the NW has to offer.  She cheers loudly from the stands at various family sporting events. Molly also appreciates conquering new challenges; this year’s involved snorkeling, learning to play the guitar and participating in a 75-mile bike race.

Molly says Missy is social, genuine, and full of life and loves sports. She works in the sports and fitness industry and loves spending her time with coaches and athletes, both on the road and at the office. Missy loves to play soccer. She’s been doing it since 3rd grade, and has met some of her closest friends playing in leagues. It brings a smile to Missy's face to think of one day cheering on our little one running around playing their favorite sport, enjoying playing an instrument, creating beautiful art whether it is with building blocks or drawing.

Thank you for reading our letter.   We are inspired by your willingness to explore the possibility of open adoption.  If we are so fortunate to meet you and learn about you and your family, we will feel very blessed to be a part of your journey.

Cheers - Missy and Molly
