Marla and Ben
Hello!
We are Marla, Ben and Willa, a Pacific Northwest family that laughs and reads together every day and who feels lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the world. We can’t say thank you enough for taking the time to read a little bit about us and want you to know we look forward to meeting and getting to know you.
Laughter – lots and lots of laughter. If you were to randomly come into our lives, this is the sound you would hear. Whether it be experiments in how to get our daughter clean, watching and helping her learn to walk, or participating in our daily after-dinner dance party, our family loves to laugh. We make it a point to read together, to get outside (especially on walks with our hound-dog Holly) and to have fun each and every day. Our lives have forever been enriched because of our open adoption of Willa. It is hard to put into words the joy we feel as we watch her grow and have a relationship with her Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles and with her Birthparents. She is a healthy, happy and well-adjusted kid who loves other people. Our family absolutely cannot wait for her to be a sister, a “job” that suits Willa to her core.
Our home is situated on 1.4 acres in a lush valley north of a large Pacific NW city. Our children will grow up with fresh vegetables from a garden that they will help cultivate, with lots of room to roam and run and will still live within minutes from two different cities with great civic activities. We are both teachers who value community. You are as likely to find us coaching or volunteering and taking part in a local community event as you are to find us gardening, exercising or visiting with friends and family.
Family is very important to us. Willa is blessed to have a great deal of love and care in her life. She spends at least one day a week with her Grandmother, with whom we are sure she will learn many things, not the least of which is a love of gardening and shopping. She lives within 10 minutes of a Grandfather who can’t wait to take her fishing, and every time she sees her other Grandfather he has a new book for her to read. Willa’s Aunts and Uncle are fun and make her laugh like all good Aunts and Uncles. Willa also loves her visits with all members of her Birthfamily and we are looking forward to watching this relationship continue to grow. We are excited to bring another child into this environment, to expand our family and to have more people help us create the shared traditions and love that form such a tight bond.
