Lillian and Jason
Hello and thanks for taking the time to read our letter.
We’re Jason and Lillian. We live in the Pacific Northwest and are originally from the East Coast. Lillian has been in the area for over twenty years now. Jason arrived a dozen years ago. We’re happy to call this part of the country home.
After meeting each other twelve years ago, we quickly became friends. We met at an internet startup, creating online chat shows about music and art. After a year, the company we worked for shut down, but our friendship grew into a creative partnership. Spending a summer on Lillian’s roof in the warehouse district and making movies about monkeys and astronauts, we fell in love. We married on a beach, surrounded by family and friends, in 2001.
Three years ago, we felt we were ready to start a family – after spending a long time getting to know one another. Adoption was always part of the picture for growing our family, even before we knew we’d be unable to have children on our own. Our parents and friends are excited about each step we’ve taken toward an open adoption and we look forward to expanding that joy with the placement of a child. We are excited to discover the rhythm of birth family visits and the joys of parenting.
We both work with technology – Lillian’s an online editor for a large software company, and Jason is a technology and marketing consultant. We’ve both built careers that allow for a great deal of freedom, meaning that we can gain a huge sense of accomplishment from our day-to-day projects without sacrificing time for our lives together.
Jason’s passions include music, gardening and cooking. Jason tends to set off the smoke detector, but loves making food that gets people excited. Lillian’s passions include painting and astrology. Her photography has been published in several books, and she’s had several exhibitions over the years. Lillian speaks at astrological conferences and has a side profession in astrological readings. When nieces & nephews visit, we often include art projects in our daily routine, and we look forward to encouraging that creative spirit as we parent.
We are both excited to share our passion for life and to provide a grounded, secure home for a child coming into our family. We look forward to passing along the family tradition of a warm breakfast and sit-down dinners. We like lively conversation, passionate subjects, and lots of jokes. We have several close friends who are raising their own infants and young children and we’re excited to join in the growing parenting community around us.
