Lauri and Nicole
Hello and thank you for taking the time to consider us as possible adoptive parents for your child.
We are Lauri and Nicole. We live in the Pacific Northwest. We love family, food, and being outdoors – in that order. We have dreamed of sharing our lives with children for quite some time. We have been planning and putting things in place and are now more than ready to let that dream become a reality. A day in our life looks like this:
-Play with Angus, our very big dog
-Cook/eat breakfast, while thinking about what’s for lunch & dinner
-Make/receive calls to/from our extended family.
-Go for a run, regardless of weather
-Work: Lauri works for a tech company & Nicole owns her own business and attends school.
-There is so much room to add children and where there isn’t; we will rearrange
every thing to put baby first.
Our story started as a chance meeting about 15 years ago. We both worked as volunteer counselors at an at-risk youth shelter. Our volunteer work proved to be the perfect backdrop to show off, our passion, drive, and soul. The stress and chaos of the work challenged us to be our very best, and we have challenged each other to continue to strive for that ever since.
Several years later, our mothers walked us down the aisle in front of 300 of our closest friends and family. Our wedding, like our life, was unique and unusual: the charming yet dilapidated church, 300 guests when only 150 were invited, the jazz cds that competed with the disco DJ, the caterer, (a friend), who had to go home to make more food, and our bishop who ended our ceremony with a quote from the book of the Divas, Patti LaBelle – “I’ve been coming around and coming around and you were here all the time.” All this; blended with food, drink, dance, family and laughter - was perfection.
Since that time, we have lived in China, travelled to some odd twenty other countries, learned multiple languages, (sort of) headed multi-national businesses, (really) and run many marathons together. Life is an adventure, and sharing that adventure with others is the best part of life.
Lauri comes from a large Filipino family and Nicole’s family hails from ‘The liberal South.’ We like to think that these backgrounds and cultures blend the best of hospitality, warmth, respect and perseverance. We value sharing, learning and openness. We have always encouraged each other to be better than we are today. Some days we’re successful, other days, not so much, but we forgive ourselves and each other and move forward with an optimistic realism.
The decision to have children is one more huge adventure in our journey together. We like to think that the journey has taken us to you.
