Jen and Therese
Hi from Therese (left) and Jen (right). We’re so excited about adopting a child through this awesome, open process. We look forward to meeting you and to starting a lifelong relationship.
We’ve been a happy couple for 13 years. We met at work and decided we were a perfect match (almost) right away. Our shared sense of humor brought us together, and we still crack each other up every day. We are total Northwesterners (we love coffee!), but neither one of us was born here. Jen is from Pennsylvania, and Therese moved here from Texas. Our families are far away, but we visit them a lot. They are all excited that they might get to welcome a new family member one of these days.
Some of our favorite things to do together are travel, play board and video games (Jen is pretty proud of her “expert” status on Rock Band), spend time with friends, and read. Jen is a city girl—she loves to ride her bike downtown, visit shops, and see movies. Therese is more outdoorsy, and she loves being at the beach, either surfing or wishing she was surfing.
But we are both kind of nerdy, to tell you the truth. Jen loves writing, and she learns difficult languages for fun! Her job actually lets her work on Facebook and Twitter professionally. She works hard, but she loves to curl up with a blanket and watch movies and TV (everything from rewatching "Harry Potter" and "Lord of the Rings” to trashy reality TV). She also makes sure our house is comfy for friends and family, with lots of good things to eat and nice places to sit and relax. Therese is a former scientist and a massive science fiction fan. Her idea of a good time is going to the comic shop or poking around in tidepools to see what creatures she can identify. But for pure relaxation, she loves video games—any kind —and standup paddle boarding. She loves to talk, and she can spend hours on the phone with her family or with friends, just chatting about everything.
Travel is a big part of our lives, and through our adventures, we’ve met lots of different people from many cultures. Both of us try to be as open and accepting of everyone as we want them to be of us. Our own families reflect different ethnic and racial heritages, religious beliefs, politics and life choices. Sometimes we disagree, but we can always find things we have in common. Our strongest belief is that ALL people deserve the same kind of luck and opportunities we’ve had in our own lives.
We have been talking about becoming parents for a couple of years now, and we feel this is the absolute right time for us. Our neighborhood has lots of kids, and we live very close to a big lake and some great playgrounds, schools, and parks. We can’t wait to go for long walks, read stories, sing silly songs together, and just hang out.
We are so ready for a child… and for you to be a part of our lives in any way you feel able. We are ready to meet you wherever you are in the process, and muddle through it together. Thanks for taking the time to read about us. Our hearts are with you as you start this amazing journey.
