Diana
Hello,
My name is Diana and I deeply respect your decision to make an adoption plan. I admire your strength and care and will provide a loving home that honors your trust. I hope this letter will give you a glimpse of who I am, what I value, and the life I envision for your child. I look forward to learning about you and continuing the conversation.
Let me tell you my story. I was raised in a loving Spanish speaking family with devoted parents and siblings who I am close with to this day. This vibrant family of grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins is ready and excited to welcome a new child. I am a trained economist, and have an excellent job with an established institution committed to reducing poverty around the world. My job allows me both the stability to provide for a child, and the flexibility to be a present and engaged parent. My home is one filled with beauty, laughter, delicious meals, and comfort. I love to entertain guests and family, and my home makes them feel immediately at ease. I see my home as an extension of myself. I value creating community and I cultivate a wide circle of extraordinary friends who I know will play a significant and very positive role in this child’s life. I cannot wait to share the richness of my world with a son or daughter.
I will be a caring and committed mother and will provide a safe and joyful environment. I will love your child unconditionally and will guide, mentor, and celebrate them as they grow. I will model and encourage tolerance and respect for other cultures and values. Your child will have the benefit of growing up in a bilingual environment and will be immersed in a diverse community of relatives, colleagues, and friends around the world. I look forward to sharing my curiosity and reveling in theirs.
My curiosity extends to food: I love to cook. I am in a supper club with five families, I often host friends over for dinner, and I can easily be found making empanadas, or enjoying sushi, Vietnamese pancakes, curries, or Ethiopian dorowat. I see food as a fascinating and delicious way of bringing people together. I have been lucky to travel the world—from Egypt to Holland and on to China (I collect recipes as I go!). But I am just as likely to travel within the USA or to explore beautiful parks in this region. I enjoy nature hikes and love taking long walks in my neighborhood, which is full of parks, a lake, and playgrounds for children. I love international folk music, opera, theater, architectural tours, and interesting talks, but books are my weakness! Not a week goes by without me sneaking into a bookstore to buy books. I look forward to reading with your child, and sharing my love of books with them.
I am thrilled to be a mother and I would be humbled and grateful if you trusted me to parent your son or daughter. I will be overjoyed to welcome you in my life as we share this journey together.
Muchas gracias,
