Dan and Jessica
Hello, we are Jessica and Dan.
We met in 2005. Dan will always remember the week that we met as it was the same week his favorite football team lost in the Superbowl. One of his worst memories was followed a few days later by one of his favorite memories when he met the love of his life for our first date. We dated for 3 years when Dan got down on one knee at an afternoon picnic and Jessica said yes. Dan works in the insurance industry. Jessica works part time as an assistant teacher at a preschool, watches a few children part time at home and also does support staff in the office at a car dealership. Her goal is to open up a small in home daycare so that she will be able to work and be a stay at home mom. Together we love going to baseball games, hiking with our dog Corrie, hitting up the local farmers market, traveling, having game nights with friends, camping and just general lazy nights at home after
enjoying a home cooked meal. Jessica is a great cook and is always trying out a new recipe or a different way to cook an old favorite.
Jessica on Dan
“Dan has been my best friend for so many years. He has a calm easy going personality that makes me want to be around him all the time. Ever since the first day we met he has been so kind to me, to my friends, and to my family. That is so important to me and it made me fall for him even faster. Dan has a very dedicated and loyal relationship with all of his family, and is a natural care taker when it comes to helping everyone. To see him around all of the wonderful children in our lives makes me very excited to have our own. He will be a great dad, patient, calm and loving. He truly has shown me the true meaning of unconditional love and commitment.”
Dan on Jessica
“Jessica is a very kind, generous person who rarely thinks of herself. She is always willing to lend a helping hand to a friend or family member without hesitation. She has a general love of life that rubs off on you. She is a natural nurturer and to see the way children respond to her is amazing. She is an inspiration to me on many levels and I admire her independence and bravery. It is almost scary how identical our basic ideals and beliefs are. We rarely disagree on anything. This is one of the many reasons that prove we were meant for each other. I am eternally thankful for that first day we met; I remember it like it was yesterday because it was one of the best days of my life.”
Even though we were not able to have children ourselves, we both knew that we were destined to be parents someday. We thought adoption was an exciting possibility and when we began our research we found that open adoption was an amazing option. We have a similar philosophy and outlook on life. We both believe that you should treat others with kindness, love as much as you can and enjoy every second you have on earth. As parents we want to be positive role models, teach the basics of right and wrong and create a loving environment for our child. We believe that a child should grow up in a loving home, be encouraged to learn and experience new things and do so with a great deal of support and guidance from parents and family members. We also believe that parents should not steer children in certain directions we want them to go, but instead to let them experience all facets that life has to offer and support whatever their specific interests may be to the fullest.
We are excited to begin the next chapter of our life together through adoption. Thank you for taking the time to read our letter.
