Cheryl and Michael
Hello!
We are Cheryl, Michael, and Siena and the three of us can’t wait to welcome a baby into our lives through an open adoption! We believe open adoption is best for us because we want our child to know who they are, through the relationships we will have with their birthparents, our extended family.
We met in 2001 and instantly connected through our shared interests of travel and the arts. In 2003 we married. We feel so very fortunate to have become life partners and best friends. Cheryl loves that Michael is always her rock, that he is supportive in whatever endeavor she wants to take part of, and that he is an involved and loving daddy. Michael loves that Cheryl is his affectionate and social partner in life to balance his science and logical way of thinking, and that she is a great loving mommy.
In 2006 we were blessed with the birth of our daughter, Siena. Becoming parents has enriched our lives beyond what we could ever imagine, and we know that having a second child will only add more joy to our lives. Taking at least one big trip each year as a family has been something that we’ve really enjoyed; viewing the world through a child’s eyes helps us to appreciate all of the smaller things that may have been overlooked otherwise. Our big trip last year was a cross-country train trip. We also like quiet family time, too. We have dinner together every night, as well as snuggling up to read books, play games, and work on crafts. One of our favorite every day activities is Siena’s bedtime routine: if Michael supervises bath time, then Cheryl gets to cuddle up with her to read the bedtime books, tell a story, and share the prayer. (Our routine flips each day so that we both get to be a part of the bedtime routine.)
Before becoming a stay-at-home mom, Cheryl enjoyed her career as an elementary school teacher for 11 ½ years. Cheryl likes to learn new things, plan trips for the family, read, and get out into nature. Cheryl has a natural ability to nurture others and bring people together. Our neighborhood is full of young children and their parents who have become dear friends, and Cheryl has coordinated the neighborhood’s 4th of July Kid Parades, barbeques, and Easter Egg hunts. Cheryl looks forward to experiencing all of the baby, toddler, and preschool stages again with our future child. She has learned that children really do grow incredibly fast, and to have another chance to be a part of this amazing process would be wonderful!
Michael is a creative, hard working, and honest person. He loves what he does for work in the high-tech world and can’t imagine doing anything else, even after 15 years. Michael experiences life with passion: for family, work, and his art projects. He is a collector of art, has a passion for attempting to make art with small LED lights that are commonly found in tech-gadgets, and likes to work with wood. As a daddy, Michael is GREAT at coming up with wonderful trip ideas, playing and being extremely silly. Screeching laughter and shouts of, “Oh, Daddy!” can often be heard in our home.
Siena is a happy, kind, and gregarious child. She enjoys taking dance class once a week, going to the library regularly, visiting kid-friendly destinations such as the zoo or The Children’s Museum, and most recently swimming. She has always had many friends from an early age, and she can’t wait to meet her new brother or sister! A few months ago Siena began playing “big sister” with her dolls all on her own. Watching her care for and love her dolls, while thinking of them as “practice” for her real future sibling was heartwarming.
Thank you for taking the time to read our letter and for considering us in your important decision. We would love to meet you and build a lasting relationship together if we are the family that is right for you.
