Becky and Ryan

Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to read our letter. We are filled with gratitude for your courage, strength and willingness to consider us for adoption for your child. As you read, we hope you find a sense of ease, love and humor that fills our family.

Our family consists of Ryan, Becky and our four year old son, Major. We were recently given the news that we would not be able to carry another child. While the news was devastating, we have always talked about adopting a child. And we now see open adoption as a way to expand our family not only with another child, but with another family. We are incredibly excited to start this new journey.

We started dating in high school and have been together ever since. We are fun, active, often times a bit silly, and always loving and supportive. After living in Portland for several years, we recently moved back home to be closer to family and it’s the best thing we’ve done. We now live in a family-friendly cul-de-sac filled with kids. We are less than two miles from Major’s grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins. We see family on a daily basis and they are all an integral part of our lives. Outside of family we also enjoy being active in our community and church.

From Becky: Ryan is a civil engineer. He loves sports and played Division 1 soccer all through college. He enjoys playing sports with his two brothers and nephew. He is quiet, honest and loyal.  He’s a great listener and tolerates my talking without complaints! Ryan puts family first no matter what. He is the most involved father I know. He never complains and is always right there to help. Fortunately he has a flexible work schedule which allows him to coach Major’s soccer team, attend swim lessons or take him out for a Father-Son day. Parenting can be challenging but Ryan always knows which role to play. He’s the first to get down on the floor to wrestle or be the tickle monster but also knows when to be the parent or disciplinarian. Our son looks up to his daddy with complete admiration. I am so blessed to have him as a husband and father.

From Ryan: After working full-time for over ten years and the first two years of Major’s life, Becky decided the only job she wanted was to stay at home and be a full-time mother. She has never been happier and loves being with Major everyday and watching him grow and learn. Every day is a new adventure for them. She is also passionate about fitness and has been teaching fitness classes for over six years. She plays the piano and is hoping to start teaching our son how to play this year. Becky is cheerful, positive, and outgoing and drives our family into new adventures weekly.

We love being outside. One of our favorite outdoor activities is walking to the park to play and picnic. We make it a game to find new parks in our community. Running is a huge part of our life. We enjoy road races, triathlons and family relays. Ever since Major was six months old, we’ve been doing family runs together. Four years later and these family runs are still going strong (despite the jog stroller getting heavier!). We feel being active and healthy is a way of life and we want to be positive role models for our children. At four years old, Major now wakes us up and asks if we can go for a run – rain or shine. We may have raised ourselves our own personal coach! The memories we’ve made during these runs will be cherished forever.

Major has a heart of gold and adores people and children of all ages. He attends a Christian Montessori Preschool, takes swimming lessons, plays soccer, loves playing with friends and cousins, and has a passion for food. We know he will be a great big brother and can’t wait to see the sibling relationship develop over time between our children.

Family means everything to us and we want nothing more than to grow our family with love and passion. Our children will receive the best we can provide along with a lot of hugs and kisses. We will constantly strive to instill values of faith, family and friends while allowing them to become independent thinkers. Through much prayer and God's grace, He has used countless people - friends, family, and strangers - to confirm our path toward adoption. Thanks again for taking the time to read about us. We will keep you in our hearts and wish you the best in your decision making.

All the best,
Ryan, Becky and Major
