Tiffany and Sean

Tiffany and Sean

Hi,

We are Sean and Tiffany and we appreciate you taking the time to read a little about us!

We live in a large NW city and have been together for 8 years and married for four. Tiffany is an elementary school counselor and Sean is a high school photography teacher, who also photographs weddings as a side business. Being a teacher fits Sean’s personality perfectly. He’s patient and kind and he has a very gentle manner about him. His students love to take pictures of him wearing various props from the drama department. The latest was a genie-turban. He puts up with it in his usual good natured way. Tiffany also feels like her job is a great fit for her personality. Working with young children requires patience, understanding and a good sense of humor. She often comes home with funny stories about things they say. She is a lively person, but she is also very down-to-earth and thoughtful in her way with people. The kids love to come to her office during recess and play Uno.

One of the things we talk about when we think of having a family is how great it will be to travel and do fun things during our summer vacations. One of our dreams is to rent an RV and travel around to some of the big landmarks that we’ve never seen – like Crater Lake, the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone. It would be so fun to spend that time as a family, exploring different parts of the country. Working in the school system means that summertime is a great opportunity to have exciting adventures and we intend to take advantage of it!

We were both born in October, 13 days apart (well, and 2 years but who’s counting?) and maybe that’s why we have a lot in common. We love being home-bodies, always working on little projects here and there, gardening or reading a good book. Last summer we grew two HUGE tomato plants so we started calling the garden “Attack of the Killer Tomatoes.” Sean is a really fast reader – he read the whole Harry Potter series in about two weeks - but he spends most of his time tinkering and taking pictures with his antique cameras. Tiffany reads more and prefers historical fiction, which allows her to immerse herself in another time and place. At home, her favorite place to read is in our upstairs reading nook. Tiffany’s guilty pleasure is reality TV shows, which Sean enjoys teasing her about.

We are both pretty witty and funny (so our friends say) and we like to laugh. One way we entertain ourselves is by singing at the top of our lungs in the car when a good song comes on. Sean does a really good Eddie Vedder rock-voice impersonation. Even better is to laugh with others, so we also love having people over for dinner. Occasionally we play old-school board and card games, but lately we stand in front of the TV and practice our tennis swings while playing the Wii. We have a really great, supportive network of family and friends - most of them with kids who call us auntie and uncle. We also have an 11-year-old dog named Riley and recently adopted two kittens, Charlie and Lola. Every morning Riley and Tiffany go on a nice long walk. It’s quiet and peaceful and Riley loves it (so does Tiffany, but not as much when it rains).

Sean has traveled to over 30 countries in his lifetime, with still more that he’d like to visit. It seems like every time we’re watching any kind of travel show on TV he says “I’ve been there!”. The most recent was a show about a yearly camel race in India…yep, he’s been to that too.

Tiffany is the more outgoing of the two of us. She seems to be an eternal optimist. She always tries to see the learning opportunity in every experience, no matter how hard it seems. Disappointment in one area can turn into an opportunity in another, and our journey of fertility is a perfect example of that. We truly feel that infertility can be turned into a wonderful thing, because it has opened the door to adoption, and we trust this will be an enriching, beautiful experience.

We are totally committed to open adoption, we wouldn’t want to adopt in any other way. And we are ready and willing to open our hearts to a new baby and birth family. Thank you for taking the time to read our letter, and we wish you the best in making this important decision.
