Terri and Joe
Hi, we are Terri & Joe. Thank you for reading our letter and allowing us to introduce ourselves to you.
We met while working together nearly twelve years ago. Sitting directly across from each other, sharing stories of our lives on a daily basis, we quickly became good friends. In 2000 we were married in a small beautiful chapel surrounded by family and friends. Today, we are each other’s best friend.
Five years ago our journey together blossomed with the birth of Joey. Unable to have children on our own, we were chosen by Joey’s birth parents to raise this wonderful baby boy. This path to parenthood has proven to enhance our lives beyond our expectations.
Our friendship and marriage continues to be a dream come true for both of us. We never imagined getting pregnant would be so difficult, yet at the same time, we became closer through the challenges of infertility. Open adoption proved to be the perfect way for us to share our love with a child; to guide them and help them develop into a happy, confident big hearted person. We are once again looking to open adoption to grow our family even more.
We both completed college, contributing to our professional successes. Giving our children the opportunity of a college education is very important to us. Joe has been working in the field of corporate finance for the past fifteen years. With the arrival of Joey five years ago, Terri put her accounting career on hold to be a stay-at-home mom. We are very thankful for the opportunity to provide such a well-balanced family life for our children and ourselves.
Our son Joey is an active, energetic, outgoing, and happy kid who enjoys his pre-school classes and his swimming lessons – he loves the water. Terri & Joey’s weekdays are packed with play dates with friends and fun activities. We moved into our dream home a few years ago. It’s the perfect place to raise a family. There are three parks in the neighborhood and the elementary school is just up the hill. The neighborhood is quiet and filled with lots of kids. Joey has several buddies in the neighborhood. We have a great fenced back yard complete with a garden, swing set, and plenty of space to run and play. In the evenings we all three enjoy sitting down to dinner together so we can share our day’s events.
While we host an assortment of family events a favorite of our families, and many friends, is our annual great pumpkin contest. A day of fun competition including a pumpkin carving contest and a pumpkin growing contest and lots of good food. We also take an annual trip to Disneyland each spring, which includes a visit with Joey’s birth mother who lives in southern California. We visit Joey’s birth father at least twice a year in Portland and have met, and spent much time with, both birth parents’ extended families.
We are ready and excited to share our lives and our love with another child. Joey is looking forward to becoming a big brother. He is always excited to show anyone who visits the newly setup bedroom, already stocked with a few toys that he’s picked out. We have tremendous faith in this path of open adoption and are looking forward to growing our loving family. It would be an honor to be chosen to parent again, and we are very excited to welcome a second child and birth family into our lives.
