Nanci and Tom
Hi! Thank you for considering us for this greatest of bright blessings.
We are Tom, Nanci, Thomas & Alex. We are affectionate and close knit family, ready to grow. When we fell in love and married over 13 years ago, we never dreamed that our family would be so difficult to grow, but when Nanci had dangerous medical complications during her second pregnancy, adoption seemed intuitively to be the right path for us.
We love to have fun together, always remembering to laugh and include heavy doses of silliness. We love nonsense words, homemade cookies, and playing board games together. As experienced parents we are excited to have a baby in the house again, and Thomas and Alex, 13 and 12, can't wait to be big brothers! We live at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac in an arts rich small town, walking distance from shops and amenities and close enough to Seattle for day trips.
Nature forms a cornerstone of our lives and our faith, as we honor and celebrate the changing seasons and try to live a sustainable lifestyle. We often get together with friends to harvest or preserve foods, or to feast and celebrate, sing and laugh. We love to tent camp, hike, bike, birdwatch, pick berries, cloud watch and just in general enjoy our naturally diverse area.
Tom is a Mechanical Engineer and self described geek with a goofy sense of humor who enjoys playing board games and working with his hands and his mind. There is very little he cannot fix or build and he loves to work around the house, deriving a lot of satisfaction from a job done well and the feeling of an active, healthy body.
Nanci is a writer who loves to read and learn and she enjoys a lot of handicrafts, like folk painting, knitting, and excellent home cooking. Nanci has always Home Schooled the boys, and treasures her role as a full time mom. They all love reading together, playing games and participating in classes, workshops or day trips.
Thomas loves films and fantasy books. He is excited about having recently started guitar lessons and really enjoys making things with clay in his pottery classes. Some of his favorite things to do are jump on his trampoline, run around in the woods and play role playing games.
Alex loves to sing, paint and cuddle. He is more than halfway to his black belt in Tae Kwon Do, and also enjoys spending time with his brother and friends on his trampoline or running around outside. He cooks, rides his bike, plays strategy games, and is learning to knit.
We are so happy to be a part of this process of open adoption. We feel blessed to have the opportunity to expand our family not just with a child, but with all the people who love that child.
