Melissa and Molly
Hello,
Thanks so much for taking the time to read our story. We are Missy and Molly and we are super excited about becoming parents and expanding our family. Between the two of us we have 8 brothers, 6 sister-in-laws, 6 nephews, 6 nieces and amazing parents, who we love spending time with.
We met 15 years ago at a job in the NW and became close friends right away. Over the first 8 years we moved for other positions in the company, but we remained close and there was always this connection between us that could not be denied. Missy was drawn to Molly’s sweet personality and warm smile, while Molly was drawn to Missy’s sparkling green eyes and amazing ability to draw people in and make them feel comfortable. In October of 2003, our paths crossed at a World Cup game and life finally felt like we were in the right place at the right time to begin our loving relationship. We have spent time learning, laughing, traveling and growing as a WE, and have also fallen in love with each others’ families and their zest for life. We challenge each other to be better people day in and day out. One of our rituals is to end our work day by talking about our highs and lows, which allows us to connect and really understand what is going on with one another.
This year we are working to be healthier individuals and have set a goal to be active 200 days of the year. Last year we enjoyed connecting with the outdoors by hiking and camping. Bailey, our 2-year-old chocolate lab, is always up for some good hikes, so we made a pact to do 20 hikes from May-October, and we were proud to have accomplished 13 of those. Our favorite hikes are ones with waterfalls; Bailey loves all the smells and opportunity to jump into the streams.
Molly is sweet, genuine, caring, and she fully embraces life. She is the type of person who has the ability to see the positive in people and situations. Molly grew up in the Northwest, and moved to Florida for six years before returning to work for her family’s business, which has allowed her to be closer to family, friends, and her love for all that the NW has to offer. She enjoys going to nieces and nephews’ school functions and cheering loudly from the stands at their sporting events. Molly has always had a love for tennis and recently started to play in a kick ball league. She is also trying a new sport called cyclocross with one of her brothers.
Missy is caring, social, funny, genuine, full of life, and loves sports. She works in the sports and fitness industry and loves spending her time with coaches, athletes and customers on the road and at the office. Missy loves to play soccer and has been doing it since 3rd grade. She has met some of her closest friends playing in leagues in the NW and the Midwest. Since moving into our new home, Missy loves to grill - it doesn't matter if it's sunny or snowing, she loves to get out there and try new recipes. Missy has many friends from growing up, and we love being tour guides for them when they come to visit.
Our families are our foundation and we hope to be that for our child. In December we went back to the Midwest to visit Missy’s family and played in the annual family holiday basketball game. Although we range in ages and in skills, it is a morning filled with so much laughter. Most of our family traditions are around the holidays, and a favorite is the 4th of July when we host family and friends. We play games in the backyard and/or local park such as croquet, bean bag throw, basketball, wiffleball and water fights, and we have our kiddy pool set up for the little ones. The best part of the day is listening to our family and friends share their special stories and of course, eating the tasty food that everyone has brought to share.
We have always wanted to be parents, and since Molly was adopted, we have both known that adoption would be a part of how we created our own family. We feel open adoption is like a jigsaw puzzle, and all the pieces are necessary otherwise the puzzle is not complete. We know and believe children benefit from love, which is why open adoption is such a great fit for us because our child will be surrounded by so much love, from so many people. We are inspired by your willingness to explore the possibility of open adoption. If we are so fortunate to meet you and learn about you and your family, we will feel very blessed to be a part of your journey.
Cheers - Missy and Molly
