Matthew and Eric
Hi,
So. It might be you who changes our lives forever. We’ve wondered about you for a very, very long time.
In fact for most of our 12-year relationship we’ve wondered if, like us, you’ll be into great music, and gardening, and hiking, and traveling with family, and great wine, and cooking, and throwing parties and so, so much more. Or, if you’ll bless us by being completely different and bringing new things into our lives that we’re going to love just as much. Truth be told, it’ll probably be a bit of both. But just the same, we can’t stop wondering. Which, of course, is why we’re here.
As for what you’re wondering, we’re Matthew (left) and Eric, and we’d really love to be parents. Always have.
Matthew’s a professional classical musician who spends most of his time teaching and conducting performances. As a former advertising creative he also does a bit of freelance design and writing work, loves to cook (Thanksgiving is a four-day production around here) and best of all, gets to work at home out of his Kermit-green office looking out onto our huge garden. Usually with our big dog Tucker snoring behind his desk.
Eric helps lead a really cool non-profit wellness center that’s all of about five minutes away, which means he gets to come home for lunch every day – one of our favorite things. He’s also a big hiker, a total weather geek, a world traveler, and probably most important, a master at making banana French toast.
We’re both big readers, pretty active volunteers in our community, master gardeners, and we’re really at our best when we’re working together (especially in the kitchen – though again, Eric’s the master of the banana French toast thing). We live in a small, artsy community of about 700, but given Matthew’s musical activities we stay pretty connected to Olympia, Seattle and Portland. It makes for a really nice balance.
The two things we love most are our big dog, Tucker, and our home, which is nestled high on a hill surrounded by pristine rain forest with views of salt water and the mountains. Our neighbors include a lot of bald eagles, a couple families of quail, hundreds of finches and songbirds, the odd rabbit, a regular chorus of tree frogs and whatever else wanders in to say hello. From here it’s a 10-minute hike through old growth down to the water, and our kayak: a trek that Eric and Tuck take every afternoon, all year, for Tuck’s mandatory daily swim. It’s their favorite part of each day.
It’s a great life, and one we’d love to share. In the meantime, we’re still patiently wondering about you, and if you’re the one we’ve been thinking about all these years. Either way, we truly wish you the very best – and our greatest respect for all of the big decisions you’re making right now.
Wondering still,
Matthew & Eric
