Marcy and Elisa

Marcy and Elisa

Hello, we are Marcy (left) and Elisa (right). We have been together for over 7 years, and we are very excited to bring a child into our family. We are really inspired by the prospect of open adoption. We both have wanted to adopt ever since thinking about having children, and openness is in line with how we live our lives - with honesty, candor, and with our arms wide open. In addition to having a child, we are looking forward to including you and your family in ours as well. We are both from small families who live far away, and we hope to expand our Pacific Northwest family and grow our child’s roots in the area.

Elisa about Marcy: Marcy is fun-loving, adventurous, funny, and intelligent. Marcy works as a project manager for an international consulting firm. She prefers napping to working, but excels at her job and has quickly risen to the upper levels of her firm. Marcy is always the center of any group, as people are immediately put at ease with her, and are drawn to her personality. She loves to travel (of which her job has afforded her quite a bit), being on the water (either in a boat or on skis), trying new food (and experiences), meeting challenges, following tennis and the St. Louis Rams football team, and engaging in any competition of any sort whatsoever (she often wins). Marcy claims (and there is evidence to support this) that she is not nearly as competitive as her grandmother (who once used her elbows and stole my Easter eggs right out of my basket during the family’s hunt). Her grandmother, and the rest of her family, is a huge part of Marcy’s life. Her love of her family is one of the first things that drew me to her.

Marcy about Elisa: Elisa is a feisty, passionate, thoughtful, supportive, energetic social justice advocate and vegetarian. She tries tirelessly to make this world a better place. While her Jewish heritage is important to her, it is the social justice aspect of her religion that most resonates with her. Elisa’s work as an advocate exposes her to a lot of hurt and sadness, yet she remains hopeful and inspired. She is an inspiration to me; Elisa really has made me a better person. While Elisa could talk about social justice endlessly, she could also spend that time equally focused on reading, photography, or many of her other passions. The 37 photo albums she has amassed over the first 7 years of our relationship attest to her love/obsession of photography. She is a professional documentary photographer and photojournalist, but also enjoys capturing the beauty of the landscape and people wherever she goes. She is still looking for the right photographic opportunities in town; ideally, she will find a way to address social justice through photojournalism or documentary work.

We love spending time together. We met in Israel while doing an archaeological dig and our shared love of travel and adventure has continued to grow. Whether we are hiking, kayaking, cross country skiing, playing with our three cats, reading in bed, watching movies, camping, or just hanging out alone or with friends, we continue to entertain each other. We are excited to entertain and be entertained by our children, and to include them in the activities we love. We look forward to providing a supportive and loving environment for our children, as we believe children thrive when they are encouraged to be themselves.

We can’t presume to know what you are going through or how you are handling it, but we are glad that you’ve found a supportive organization, as we have, to help find the right answers. If our families merge, we want you to know that you will always be a part of the journey of this child’s life. We wish you peace in making whatever decision is best for you and your child.
