Kristen and Tim

Kristen and Tim

Hi! We’re Tim and Kristen. We’ve been together for almost 13 years and it’s been fun. We live in Washington with our 17 year old cat, Boo, although if she could speak we are sure she would say we get to live with her. The saying that opposites attract describes us. Tim is quiet and likes to ponder decisions, while Kristen is free-spirited and willing to take chances. Our differences have created a strong and loving marriage, celebrating the good times and working together through the challenges.

Tim’s personality kind of sneaks up on you. He’s quiet at first, but when he gets to know you, he opens up. The first thing that attracted me to Tim was his laugh - it’s infectious, and he has a very dry sense of humor. He looks pretty serious most of the time but then Tim laughs and his whole face lights up and his smile is amazing. Tim is kind, intelligent and loyal to his friends and family. When anyone needs him, he is there. Tim makes me feel special and loved. It’s the little things he does, like helping to get the chores done, reading me a story at the end of the day to help me relax, or just letting me be me – I’m a bit silly at times. Tim works as a computer system facilitator for the Washington State Senate and enjoys his job. His favorite past time is going on road trips. It doesn’t matter where we go or how far it is, Tim is ready with a bag full of tunes, maps and guide books full of off the beaten path places to explore. We love being outdoors, camping and hiking. Tim also is a big Mariners’ fan. We go to at least a couple games up in Seattle each season. Tim knows all the statistics and the players, which makes a game fun. Tim likes good movies, especially Film Noir, the classic crime movies. He enjoys reading and among his favorite authors are Edward Abbey and Kurt Vonnegut. He listens to all kinds of music, Bruce Springsteen being his favorite.

Kristen is generous and giving. She knows people so well, and really cares about them and listens to them. She has a great, unbridled laugh that is uniquely her own, and a wonderful sense of humor. She has a lot of kid left in her. We both enjoy comedies. I love that Kristen will laugh at the same jokes every time, no matter how many times she’s seen the movie. Her favorite movie is a screwball comedy, The Philadelphia Story, with Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn. Her musical tastes are all over the map – she likes anything from Louis Armstrong to Metallica, with a little Red Hot Chili Peppers on the side. She loves reading, especially Terry Pratchett and Shakespeare – they have the same sense of humor as her. She has a big family and we enjoy spending time with her nieces and nephews, playing games or going to the beach. As an artist, Kristen has no problem thinking of fun things to do. She currently makes quilts, sculptures, jewelry, and is writing a children’s book. It’s hard to convince her to keep anything she makes and not give them as presents. Kristen likes to cook and always brings something new and delicious to the table.

Adoption is already a part of our family as we both have immediate family who are adopted. It’s important to us to have an open adoption because a child deserves to know their birth family, where they come from and that their whole family loves them. We want our child’s life to be filled with new experiences, love, and laughter. They will have our support and encouragement for whatever interests or talents they may choose to develop. We want to share with our child the best family experiences we had growing up – daily family time, trips to the beach, stories at bedtime, family vacations, carving pumpkins at Halloween and just enjoying being a kid. Kristen is excited to be a stay at home mom until our child is in school. Our child will be surrounded by a large and loving extended family and friends who live nearby and are so excited to be a part of their life. We would want you to be a part of our life and family.

Thank you for taking the time to read our letter. We wish you the best in the decisions you are making for your child and your future.

With warmest regards, Tim and Kristen
