Ginny and Andy

Ginny and Andy

Hello,

We are Andy, Ginny, & Ava. Thank you for letting us introduce ourselves.

We’ve been married for 11 years and consider each other best friends. When we adopted Ava in 2005, we threw ourselves into parenthood with enthusiasm and humor. We don’t live an extravagant lifestyle and instead delight in the every day moments: reading together in bed, family craft nights, walks in our many neighborhood parks, baking cookies, making up games, and dancing to hip hop music in our living room. We eat dinner together as a family almost every night and talk about our favorite parts of our day (and sometimes our not so favorite parts.)

Ginny is warm, creative, sincere, and laughs easily. She enjoys photography, gardening, perusing craft blogs, reading memoirs, baking, and drinking coffee – lots of coffee! Ginny has been a stay at home mom to Ava since her adoption and has found it rewarding, challenging, hilarious, sweet, difficult, and fun!

Andy works as a project manager for a large company, managing programs and initiatives on both a domestic and international level. Andy is kind, gentle, hard working, and laughs easily. He enjoys gardening, racquetball, and working on home projects (he renovated our kitchen and bathroom in our previous home.) He is introverted at first glance but once you get to know him, he is open and will make you laugh with his witty one-liners.

Ava is 5 years old and in Kindergarten in public school. She is a curious learner and enjoys school, art, jump rope, dancing, being read to, and her stuffed animals, especially frogs! She is our delightful, sweet daughter and we feel blessed beyond measure to be her parents. She is very excited about becoming a big sister and “practices” with her friends’ younger siblings.

We believe in open adoption because it considers what is best for the child – something every parent desires. We want our children to know where they came from and also feel a connection to their pasts. The unknown can be a scary place and we want to be sure our children feel comfortable with who they are. Our daughter was adopted through a closed process in China. We feel sad that we can’t offer Ava information or relationships with her past. As she grows older, we know we will face her questions head-on and do our best to honor any feelings she may experience. We look forward to offering that open communication with our next child and are excited about forging a bond with you.

Sending our best to you as you make plans for your future.

Warmly,

Andy, Ginny, & Ava
