Cathi and Kirk
Hello!
We are Cathi and Kirk. We hope that we can give you some sense of who we are in one page and we hope that we might have the opportunity to learn more about each other if it looks to you like we might be the right adoptive parents for your child. We can only imagine what this decision must feel like, and appreciate and admire your thoughtfulness in making this decision.
We have been together for 20 years and have been married for the last 11 years. As you might guess, with that amount of time, we are best friends and have been through most of our lives together, supporting one another all the way, through lots of good times, as well as a some bad ones. Despite 20 years together and many shared interests, we also have different interests and personalities that complement one another. Kirk is the loud one, Cathi quieter. Kirk likes thinking about the future, Cathi is more day-to-day practical. Kirk is the math and science type, Cathi is more language and logic inclined. Kirk is the spender, Cathi is the saver. Yet, with all these differences, we have so many common interests. Together we love spending as much time as possible outdoors. We love hiking, camping, snowboarding, kayaking, trail running, tennis (for Cathi) and golf (for Kirk). We also love to travel and have been fortunate to experience many countries and cultures from Asia (Japan, China, Korea, Vietnam, and Cambodia) to Africa (Tanzania and Mt. Kilimanjaro) to Europe (Italy, Greece, Russia, France, Norway, Czech. Republic) to Central and South America (Peru, Argentina, Honduras, Costa Rica), Australia and Canada. Both of us have lived overseas (Japan and Australia for Cathi, and Norway, England and Portugal for Kirk). We cannot wait to introduce a child to the fascinating people and places of the world.
Currently, in addition to us, our family includes our black and white rescue cat Roku, and the white, energetic kitten we adopted from a local animal shelter named Yuki. We were very sad when our Australian Shepherd Kira passed away and now pour our love into our cats.
As for jobs, Kirk works as a research scientist for a biotech company and Cathi works for a utility as its employment attorney. We both have changed our jobs to gain more flexibility to devote to a child’s needs, and are very eager and ready to become parents. We want to show and teach a child so much. We want to laugh and play with him/her and discover his/her interests, whether they include music, sports, animals, reading, dancing, cooking, exploring or any other interest. Our mothers are both excited to welcome this child as their first grandchild.
Kirk is adopted through a closed process and we are eager to support a child in experiencing the joys of life – big and small – and helping him or her through the challenges in an open manner as they grow up.
