Carrie and Geoff

Hello,

We are Geoff and Carrie (and Bella the boxer-dog). Thank you for taking the time to read a little about us and our lives. We imagine it must be hard to choose the right family for your child. We wish you the best, and we hope you find a family that feels like the perfect fit.

After discovering that we were unable to have children on our own, we were drawn to open adoption. We are excited about becoming adoptive parents, not only to witness and share in the growth and blossoming of a brand-new person, but also to nurture a relationship with the childs birthparents. We firmly believe in honesty in a parent/child relationship, and we hope that our future child will be more confident and secure if they are able to maintain a relationship with their birthparents.

We live in an urban area in the Pacific Northwest, where Geoff is a small-business owner and Carrie works as a paralegal. We both have flexibility in our work hours and hope to share time staying home with our child.

Geoff grew up on the East Coast. He spent summers at his familys rustic lakeside cabin and climbed mountains, swam, and adventured with his siblings and cousins. Winters were all about skiing. He and his brother spent countless hours building jumps and perfecting mogul technique. Geoffs brother remains his #1 ski-buddy to this day. Carrie is a lifelong West-Coast girl, and feels lucky that most of her family lives nearby. Her family gets together frequently for birthdays, holidays, weekend getaways, kids sporting events, and any other excuse they can find for a party. The news and stories and gossip flow a-mile-a-minute; its often hard for Geoff to keep up!

We met in 2000 while playing soccer. The attraction was instant, and we quickly learned that we shared an active and adventurous nature. We spent all of our time together, playing soccer, skiing, cycling, hiking, camping, and climbing. We became best friends and confidantes, and our relationship developed into one based on trust, respect, and love. Carrie loves that Geoff is patient, kind, smart, and funny. Geoff loves that Carrie is social, hard-working, athletic, and stylish. We married in 2007 in front of all of our family and closest friends. We are blessed with many loving and talented friends, who played integral roles in our weddingfrom DJ, to caterer, to bartender. One brave and special friend conducted our ceremony. Our faithful, if piggish, dog even made a cameo appearance. It was a special day and a memory we treasure. Aside from sports and adventures, we like to do home and yard projects, cook, and entertain together. We love having friends and family over for meals and games. When we are not spending time together, Carrie loves to read, nurture her growing interest in decorating, and spend time with her girlfriends. Geoff keeps himself busy running his business, watching movies, and playing with our sweet dog Bella. We live in a suburban neighborhood close to the city, and adjacent to a big, forested park with nature paths. We are also fortunate to live near some of the best schools in our area.

We believe in raising children to be kind, curious, independent and adventurous. We are looking forward to introducing our child to the outdoors and nurturing a sense of wonder for their surroundings. Education is very important to us, and we hope to give our child the best education possible. We will try our best to raise a child who is comfortable with him or herself, and we would hope to help them realize any goal they set for themselves.

Thank you for taking the time to read our letter. We wish you well in whatever path you choose for yourself and your baby.
