Hi! We are Anna and David from Oregon. Here is a snap shot of our lives!
We are incredibly excited about adopting. We love children and look forward to raising one together. Now is a perfect time in our lives. We have an unusually close, loving, and supportive relationship. As established professionals, we have the time to focus on family and raising our little one. We also have flexibility in our work schedules to be actively involved in all aspects of our child’s life from the moment he or she is born. We can’t wait to hold our child for the first time, snuggle together reading stories, and play peek-a-boo! We will get involved in our child’s education and nurture the interests he or she has such as art, music, sports, or theatre. We promise you above all, we will fill our child’s life with love, nurturing, laughter, encouragement, compassion, and family.
Anna is a physician and works as a Medical Director for a health insurance company. David is a tax accountant and works from home. We met seven years ago playing softball in San Diego and have been together ever since. We are similar in our values, beliefs, and views but we each bring unique differences and interests to our relationship. Anna is fun-loving, adventurous, ambitious, and has a can-do attitude. She will teach our child to dare to dream big, the optimism and perseverance needed to achieve those dreams, and to enjoy the ride. David is kind-hearted, laid back, easy going, and has a Zen attitude. He will teach our child to relax, enjoy the moment, and to appreciate life and the world we live in. David will also draw on his experiences raising his two daughters from his first marriage. They are now ages 21 and 24 years and are both starting their professional careers in New York.
We moved to Oregon two years ago because of our mutual love for the great outdoors. The hardest part about leaving San Diego was moving away from our families. We are close with our families and visit each other whenever we can. Between us we have eleven nieces and nephews ages 6 to 26 years, including two who are adopted. We adore them all and enjoy being someone special in their lives.
We are having a great time exploring the beautiful Pacific Northwest! We have hiked along many rivers and waterfalls, biked through beautiful countryside, and collected pretty sea shells and stones along the coast. We have made very close friends who live nearby and are like family to us. We do many things together such as going to movies and theatrical performances, listening to live concerts in the park, and having each other over for dinner and other gatherings.
We love our home in the hills overlooking the city and beyond. It is spacious yet cozy. Our backyard slopes downwards and faces an area of meadow with trees. When relaxing in our backyard, we enjoy the spectacular view, listening to the sounds of nature, bird watching, and deer sightings. We usually cook dinner from scratch, eat healthy but still like desert, and often experiment with new recipes. We have two small adorable dogs that are full of energy. We frequently take them to the park a few blocks away to play fetch while we socialize with our neighbors. The park has a playground and we can’t wait to take our child there to play with the other kids!
We welcome openness in adoption and recognize its values for everyone involved. We want to create the opportunity for our child, the birth parent(s), and other biological family members to stay connected in a meaningful way. We look forward to discussing with the birthparent(s) their hopes and preferences for their baby’s future and what openness they want the child to have with them and other biological family members. We promise to work toward accommodating these wishes including changes in connectivity desired as time passes.
