OA&FS Services for Birthfathers
If you are an expectant father exploring your adoption options or a birthfather who has placed your child in an open adoption, OA&FS can provide the following services (in addition to the other services it regularly provides to all clients):
COUNSELING: OA&FS counselors can provide free counseling to any expectant father considering his adoption options or planning an open adoption. Sessions are available either with the birthmother or on an individual basis. Counseling is also available to birthfathers who have already placed their child through OA&FS and would like additional help building their open adoption relationships.
MENTORS: Many birthfathers find it helpful to connect with someone else who has been through the open adoption process. If you would like to speak to a fellow birthfather, please contact the agency and we will connect you with a mentor who can relate to your situation.
AGENCY EVENTS: OA&FS hosts annual summer picnics and holiday parties in Portland, Seattle and Eugene - and sometimes other cities, too. OA&FS adoptive parents, birthparents and children are invited. The gatherings are a great opportunity to take advantage of the friendships and support available in the open adoption community.
