How You Can Help

Your donation to Open Adoption & Family Services helps birthparents, adoptive parents and children. OA&FS is a nonprofit organization. All services, including options counseling and unlimited post-placement counseling, are free of charge to birthparents. About twenty percent of birthparents who come to us for options counseling plan an adoption. The rest make another choice, usually to parent. We connect birthparents with the resources they need to carry out their vision for their child's future. Your gift supports this free, no-pressure options counseling and support for all birthparents.

Adoptive parent fees cover individual adoptions. OA&FS provides much that is not covered by these fees, both pre- and post-placement. Your gift supports such groundbreaking annual programs as OA&FS educational workshops, Lifegiver's Retreat for birthmothers, mentor and support groups, free post-placement counseling for all clients, and more.

Your gift helps change the face of adoption. With it, you help us create a healthier, more honest, more caring community for the entire adoption community.

RAIN OR SHINE
OA&FS's children’s book about open adoption, is now available! RAIN OR SHINE was written by adoptive mom Hilary Horder Hippely and illustrated by former OA&FS counselor Margaret Godfrey.

Finn has a happy life with his mother and father. Every summer he looks forward to the birthday celebration that will reunite him with his rich extended family, particularly his birthmother, Lisa. But when clouds threaten, Finn wonders how his much-loved birthday traditions can continue. With warmth and honesty, Rain or Shine celebrates the possibilities of life, love, and family.
