OA&FS Prospective Adoptive Families - Dear Birthparents Letter
From Bobby and Michael
Dear Birthparent(s):
Hi, we’re Michael & Bobby. We met by chance through a friend, but we clicked immediately. We’re excited to now be celebrating our 15th anniversary and we started the year off with an adventurous trip to Hawaii! We love each other’s company and are constantly making each other laugh, even at the goofiest things. We strive to make every day a great one. We are looking forward to sharing these good times together with you and our child, as family.
We love traditions. Christmas is a biggie. From cutting down a tree and decorating, to riding around enjoying everyone’s lights, to the dinner, to opening presents (one before bed on Christmas Eve!), it’s definitely a fun season. We enjoy the same dinner every Valentine’s Day and we take our Moms to brunch on Mother’s Day. Every year on July 4th everyone gathers at our house to watch the fireworks (which are launched from the park/playground three houses away). We never leave for camping without Oreos and we make sure we always watch the ball drop to ring in the New Year. But once in a while we like to leave traditions behind and start something new. We are hopeful to soon be sharing these traditions with a child and to also create new ones that we can all enjoy as a family.
Michael really enjoys his job as an I.T. professional. As someone who likes to fix things, it’s the perfect career! Bobby works for a medical equipment manufacturer, but is also in Nursing School to fulfill his love of helping people. We’ve always worked great together as a team. We think it’s because we have contrasting personalities and interests. Basically, we’re just different enough and just enough alike to keep things interesting and to help expand our horizons. (Guess we’re a little bit country AND a little bit rock ‘n roll!) We have learned and experienced many things together that separately, we may have never encountered at all. Parenting is the one experience we’ve been looking forward to the most!

Some of our opposites/similarities:
- Michael is often the quiet one, while Bobby is more outgoing
- We both love to laugh and make others laugh as well
- Bobby likes to watch football, while Michael enjoys working on cars
- Working in our yard & on our home is enjoyable for both of us
- Bobby enjoys baking, Michael’s an excellent cook
- We both love camping and traveling
- Michael could eat Asian food everyday, but Bobby’s favorite is Mexican
- We both enjoy music from a long list of genres
- Bobby jumps into everything passionately, Michael likes to ‘tinker’ quietly
- We’re both guilty of spoiling our pets silly
- Michael has a closet full of Hawaiian shirts, although Bobby could always use more shoes
- We like to spend much of our time together with family and friends
Our home is in a small Pennsylvania town. It has a huge yard, great neighbors, good schools, a park just up the street and friends at every turn. We chose it with a family in mind. We feel we have the best of both worlds. Even though we live away from the city, we’re never more than 30 minutes away from exciting places like zoos, parks, aquariums and science centers.
Becoming parents has long been a dream of ours. We look forward to experiencing the world anew through the eyes of a child. We can’t wait to see their smiles become laughs; to watch their crawls become steps; to see their independence grow as they wave goodbye and walk up the steps to their first day of school; to see the excitement in their eyes as they learn to drive; to finding their true passion in life; and all of the other adventures they will experience as they grow to be wonderful people. Through the spirit of open adoption, we hope these are adventures you will share with us.
We could never begin to imagine what you’re feeling, but we’re here for the same reason, which is to provide the best life possible for the child you entrust to us. We promise to give them unconditional love and support. We vow to teach them the value of family and provide them with the tools to follow their dreams. And we can assure you that we’ll always be honest and open, because we couldn’t live our lives any other way. We’re looking forward to beginning this journey with you.
